Paradox Bleach Guide — Soul Reapers, Hollows & Everything You Need to Know
Paradox's Bleach-inspired update is one of the biggest content drops in the game's history. The Soul Society Era introduces an entirely new faction system, a revamped Shikai pathway, Hollow transformations, and some of the rarest artifacts ever added to the game.
This guide covers everything — from choosing your path to mastering Zanpakuto and farming the best Bleach-era items.
What Is the Bleach Update in Paradox?
The Bleach update added the Soul Society Era as a new playable timeline alongside the existing Ancient, Industrial, and Future Eras. It introduces:
- Two playable factions: Soul Reapers (Shinigami) and Hollows
- Zanpakuto system — an expanded version of Shikai tied to the Soul Society
- New artifacts: Soul Tickets, Hollow Masks, Sealed Blades, and the ultra-rare Hogyoku Fragment
- Soul Society bosses: Captain-tier enemies with guaranteed rare drops
- Bankai pathway — the ultimate power upgrade beyond Shikai (see below)
Choosing Your Path: Soul Reaper vs Hollow
When you enter the Soul Society Era for the first time, you must choose a faction. This is permanent unless you use a Path Reset Scroll (extremely rare).
⚔️ Soul Reaper (Shinigami)
- Playstyle: Balanced offense and defense with Zanpakuto abilities
- Unlocks: Shikai → Bankai progression, Kido spells, Captain rank
- Best for: PvP, structured progression, team-based content
- Unique perk: Access to the Soul Society hub and Captain missions
👻 Hollow
- Playstyle: Raw aggression, high damage, Hollow Mask transformations
- Unlocks: Hollow Mask, Resurreccion (ultimate form), Menos-class power
- Best for: Grinding, Rift Zone farming, solo PvE content
- Unique perk: Hollows gain 20% bonus artifact drops in Soul Society Rift Zones
Tip: Soul Reaper is recommended for new players. The Bankai progression gives you consistent power spikes, while Hollow is higher-risk / higher-reward.
The Zanpakuto System
Zanpakuto are the Bleach era's version of Shikai — but more complex. Instead of one form, Zanpakuto have three states:
1. Sealed (Base Form)
Your default weapon. Standard stats, no special abilities.
2. Shikai (First Release)
Speak your Zanpakuto's name to release its first form. Unlocks 3 abilities and significantly boosts your stats. (See our How to Get Shikai in Paradox guide for the full unlock process.)
3. Bankai (Final Release)
The ultimate transformation. Bankai is only available in the Soul Society Era and requires:
- Reaching Shikai Level 50
- Completing the Bankai Trial — a 20-minute solo challenge in the Soul Society
- Obtaining a Zanpakuto Manifest item (drops from Captain-tier bosses)
Bankai multiplies your Shikai damage by 2x and unlocks 2 additional exclusive abilities. It's the most powerful state in the entire game.
Soul Society Artifacts — What to Farm
Common Drops
- Soul Tickets — currency for the Soul Society shop
- Sealed Blade Shards — used to upgrade your Zanpakuto
Uncommon Drops
- Hollow Masks — wearable cosmetics with minor stat boosts
- Kido Scrolls — teach Soul Reapers additional spell abilities
Rare Drops
- Zanpakuto Manifest — required for Bankai unlock
- Captain's Haori — the rarest cosmetic in the Soul Society, extremely valuable
Ultra-Rare Drops
- Hogyoku Fragment — the rarest item in the entire Bleach update. Only drops from the final Soul Society boss at approximately 0.1% chance. Multiple Fragments can be fused into the full Hogyoku, which is the most valuable tradeable artifact in Paradox as of this update.
Soul Society Bosses
The Soul Society Era has three boss tiers, each dropping progressively better loot:
Menos-Class Hollow (Open World)
- Spawns every 15 minutes in the Soul Society Rift Zone
- Drops: Soul Tickets, Sealed Blade Shards
- Difficulty: Easy to Medium
Captain-Tier Shinigami (Instance)
- Must be summoned using 3 Soul Tickets
- Drops: Zanpakuto Manifest (rare), Kido Scrolls
- Difficulty: Hard — bring a squad
Sosuke Aizen (World Boss)
- Spawns once every 6 hours server-wide
- Drops: Hogyoku Fragment, Captain's Haori
- Difficulty: Extreme — server must work together
- Tip: Coordinate in the Paradox Discord to ensure a full server is present for Aizen spawns
Kido Spells (Soul Reapers Only)
Soul Reapers can learn Kido spells from scrolls dropped in the Soul Society. These are secondary abilities separate from your Zanpakuto:
| Spell | Type | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Byakurai | Offensive | Fast lightning bolt |
| Sokatsui | Offensive | AOE fire blast |
| Bakudo #9 | Binding | Root one target |
| Bakudo #61 | Binding | Full paralysis (short) |
| Gochutekkan | Binding | 5-pillar heavy restraint |
Kido spells are excellent combo starters in PvP — Bind a target with Bakudo then follow up with Zanpakuto abilities.
Hollow Mask Transformation
Hollow players can activate their Hollow Mask for 30 seconds of enhanced power:
- +40% damage output
- +20% movement speed
- All abilities cost no stamina
- Visual transformation (unique to each clan's Hollow design)
The mask has a 3-minute cooldown. Managing mask uptime is the core skill expression for Hollow players.
Best Strategies by Playstyle
For Traders
- Farm Soul Tickets and trade them for Kido Scrolls — they're in high demand from Soul Reaper players
- The Captain's Haori has one of the highest trade values of any cosmetic in the game
- Watch Hogyoku Fragment prices closely — they fluctuate significantly around Aizen spawn events
For PvP Players
- Soul Reaper with Bankai is the current PvP meta
- Master Kido binding combos before entering PvP — the Bakudo → Zanpakuto combo is dominant
- Hollow players can counter Soul Reapers with Mask timing — save it for when they activate Bankai
For PvE Farmers
- Hollow faction gives you better artifact drop rates in Rift Zones
- Focus on the Captain-Tier boss for consistent Zanpakuto Manifests
- Save your Soul Tickets for the World Boss summoning rotation, not the shop
Economy Impact of the Bleach Update
The Bleach update significantly shifted Paradox's economy:
- Hogyoku Fragments became the new rarest tradeable item overnight
- Rift Crystals dropped slightly in relative value as Soul Society introduced more high-tier content
- Clan Scrolls spiked in value because the Soul Reaper/Hollow meta made certain clans (Crimson Void, Eternal Rift) even more desirable
- Void Compass prices increased due to higher Rift Zone traffic from new players
Quick-Start Checklist for the Bleach Update
