Steal a Brainrot: Beginner's Starting Guide — First 7 Days
Steal a Brainrot: Beginner's Starting Guide — First 7 Days
New players make the same mistakes in their first week: trading away rare characters too early, wasting time on commons, and not understanding how the economy works. This guide fixes all of that.
Before You Do Anything: Understand the Core Loop
Steal a Brainrot is a collection and trading game built on a simple loop:
- Steal characters from other players and spawns
- Hold or trade them based on rarity and demand
- Build toward higher tiers by trading duplicates and lower-value characters upward
The goal isn't to steal the most characters — it's to end up with the highest-value collection.
Day 1 — Learn the Basics, Don't Trade Yet
Your only job on Day 1 is to understand the game mechanics:
- Practice your steal timing on common characters — get comfortable with the steal window
- Identify which characters are common vs. rare (check the rarity indicator when a character spawns)
- Do not accept any trades yet — you don't know what anything is worth
- Join the community Discord or subreddit — lurk and absorb value discussions
Goal: Steal 15–20 common characters. Learn 3 rare character names.
Day 2 — Focus on Rares
Now that you know the basic steal mechanics, shift your focus:
- Stop wasting steal attempts on commons unless nothing else is available
- Target B-Tier (Rare) characters actively
- Start checking RBXPortfolio to understand what your steals are worth
- Still don't trade — you're building inventory
Goal: Secure 3–5 Rare (B-Tier) characters.
Day 3 — Your First Trade (Only If Ready)
If you have 5+ B-Tier characters and understand their values, you can attempt your first trade:
First trade rule: Only trade duplicates. Never trade your only copy of a B-Tier or higher character.
Good first trade: 3 B-Tier duplicates for 1 A-Tier character Bad first trade: Any trade involving a character you only have one of, when you don't know the value
Use RBXPortfolio's trade calculator to verify the value before accepting.
Day 4 — Optimize Your Server Choice
Not all servers are equal. By Day 4 you should be picking servers strategically:
- Low-population servers = fewer competitors for rare steals, but fewer steals overall
- High-population servers = more character spawns but heavily contested rare windows
- Sweet spot: Medium population (20–40 players) — enough spawn activity without extreme competition
Also: find servers where rare and legendary characters seem to spawn frequently (this has some variance — if you haven't seen a rare in 20+ minutes, server-hop).
Day 5 — Build Your A-Tier Stack
At this point your goal is getting your first A-Tier (Legendary) character and holding it:
- Trade 3–4 B-Tiers for 1 A-Tier
- Alternatively, attempt to steal an A-Tier directly (requires faster reaction time than rares)
- Once you have an A-Tier: don't trade it yet. It's your foundation.
What to look for in A-Tier steals:
- Position near high-rarity spawn zones (learn these from experienced players in community channels)
- A-Tier characters have ~3-second steal windows — practice your timing
Day 6 — Start Tracking Your Portfolio
Log your collection in RBXPortfolio:
- Check the current value of every character you hold
- Identify your highest-value asset (your "anchor" — don't trade this carelessly)
- Check demand trends — is anything you own trending up or down?
- Make a plan for what your next trade-up target is (what do you need to get your first S-Tier?)
This is also a good day to assess if you've been playing in good servers. If your collection feels thin after 6 days, server selection is usually the issue.
Day 7 — Plan Your First S-Tier Push
By the end of Week 1, you should have:
- Several B-Tier characters
- At least 1–2 A-Tier characters
- A clear understanding of S-Tier requirements
Calculate what it takes to trade up to your first S-Tier mythical:
- Standard path: 3–5 A-Tier characters trade for 1 S-Tier
- Alternative: Keep stealing aggressively — S-Tier steals are possible but require speed and positioning
Don't rush the S-Tier push. A solid A-Tier stack is more liquid and safer for new players than a single S-Tier that you might trade badly later.
Common Beginner Mistakes to Avoid
| Mistake | Why It Hurts | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Accepting first trade offer | 90% of first offers are lowballs | Always check RBXPortfolio first |
| Trading your only A-Tier | Rebuilding from scratch takes days | Hold until you have 2+ |
| Chasing every steal | Burns time on commons | Ignore common spawns once you have rares |
| Playing on laggy servers | Ruins mythical steal windows | Server-hop until you find low-ping |
| Selling event characters early | Event chars appreciate — always | Hold 30+ days post-event minimum |
Quick Reference: Week 1 Milestones
- ✅ Day 1: 15 commons stolen, mechanics learned
- ✅ Day 2: 3–5 B-Tier (Rare) characters secured
- ✅ Day 3: First trade completed (B-Tier → A-Tier)
- ✅ Day 4: Server optimization understood
- ✅ Day 5: First A-Tier in collection
- ✅ Day 6: Portfolio tracked on RBXPortfolio
- ✅ Day 7: S-Tier push strategy planned
Summary
- Don't trade until Day 3 minimum — build inventory first
- Never trade your only copy of a rare or above
- Use RBXPortfolio's trade calculator before every trade
- Server-hop to find medium-population, low-ping servers
- Hold event characters — they will be worth more in 30 days
Week 1 done right sets you up to dominate Week 2. 🧠
